This fundraising event if for the Cuan Mhuire Centre in Athy, Co. Kildare.  Since its formation in 1966 by Sr. Consilio, Cuan Mhuire has treated over 75,000 people.  Its main objective is the rehabilitation of persons suffering from alcohol, drug and gambling addictions.  Cuan Mhuire is Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of Rehabilitation Treatment for individuals suffering from addiction and other related issues.

At any one time Cuan Mhuire has 600 people in treatment through their nationwide centres in Bruree, Co. Limerick, Coolarne, Co. Galway, Farnanes, Co. Cork, Athy, Co. Kildare and Newry, Co. Down.  This amounts to 54% of all residential treatment in our country.  To do this we rely heavily on fundraising.

To register online please visit the following link:                                                                         http://www.deensidewheelers.com/cuan-mhuire-helping-hand-cycle.html

This cycling event is taking place on the 9th July 2011 and is catering for all types of cyclist, a fun 10km around Athy to a 55km course to test the novice to intermediate, a 100km for the more adventurous and a 150km course for the hardcore cyclist.

All the courses will start and finish in Cuan Mhuire, Athy.  There is ample parking provided and shower facilities will be provided for after the event and a BBQ will be held in the evening.

The three courses will all pass through Castlecomer where there will be a food and rest stop.  The 150km event will pass through Castlecomer twice.  The courses are now available to view through the Deenside Wheelers website below.

The course for each event will be fully stewarded and support vehicles will be present with liquids, snacks and technical support if it is required.  We would expect every cyclist to be self sufficient but not everything can be planned for and we will aim to be on hand if any cyclist should require assistance.

Registration for this event is 23euro for Cycling Club Members and 25euro for non cycling club members.  You will receive a sponsorship pace and an ID number that you will need to present at the registration on the morning of the event.  You will receive a wrist band once you are registered

Cycling shirts are going to be produced especially for this event and will be available to buy, for a modest price on the morning of the event.

Regular updates and information will be forthcoming.  If you have any questions, email or
