Coolarne Flower Festival and Annual Open Day

The Cuan Mhuire Annual Sports and Open Day will take place on Sunday 28th August from 2 – 6pm. This event is always a great family day with something for everyone young and old. There will be many stalls and side shows, face painting, tea and cakes stall, bar-b-que, wheel of fortune and raffle with fantastic prizes to be won plus much more. Later in the afternoon there will be FREE children’s sports with lots of medals to be won. In addition to the Annual Sports and Open Day this year the organisers have decided to host a FESTIVAL OF FLOWERS – ‘The Journey’ This amazing event is a must for all flower and garden lovers, flower clubs and special interest groups. It tells the amazing story of a life’s journey depicted in stunning displays, by flower arrangers from all over Ireland. This event will take place on Friday 26th & 27th August from 2 – 9 pm each day. Exhibits from the Flower Festival can also be viewed throughout the open day on Sunday 28th August. All Are Welcome. All proceeds from the week end go to Cuan Mhuire, Coolarne.

Helping Hand Cycle Fundraiser

helping_hand_cycle_posterA fundraising cycling event for Cuan Mhuire, Athy, Co. Kildare Ireland, in association with the Deenside Wheelers, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny.

This fundraising event if for the Cuan Mhuire Centre in Athy, Co. Kildare.  Since its formation in 1966 by Sr. Consilio, Cuan Mhuire has treated over 75,000 people.  Its main objective is the rehabilitation of persons suffering from alcohol, drug and gambling addictions.  Cuan Mhuire is Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of Rehabilitation Treatment for individuals suffering from addiction and other related issues.

At any one time Cuan Mhuire has 600 people in treatment through their nationwide centres in Bruree, Co. Limerick, Coolarne, Co. Galway, Farnanes, Co. Cork, Athy, Co. Kildare and Newry, Co. Down.  This amounts to 54% of all residential treatment in our country.  To do this we rely heavily on fundraising.

cycle_of_hopeA fundraising cycle organised by a group of young men which will take them from Malin Head (Donegal) to Mizen Head (Cork) is expected to not only raise much needed funds for the new Cuan Mhuire Centre presently being developed in Newry, but will also highlight the issue of Alcohol and other Addictions and the effects addiction has on individuals, families, communities and society in general.

The Cycle of Hope was launched at the Quays Shopping Centre in Newry by one of the country’s most gifted sports stars of a generation – Crossmaglen Rangers’ Oisin McConville.

The Cycle of Hope will commence at Malin head on Monday 4th July and finish on Friday 8th July at Mizen Head. A series of events prior to the cycle of hope have been arranged as follows: -
